A new official notification has just been released on the official website of the CBSE Board which is “Meri Mati Mera Desh Campaign 2023”. Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM) is an important nationwide initiative managed by the collective efforts of our citizens to commemorate 75 years of India’s independence. To suit this momentous occasion, the Ministry of Culture has envisioned a campaign titled “Meri Mati Mera Desh”, which will act as a culmination of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.

This Meri Mati Mera Desh campaign will be a tribute to the gallant heroes who made the supreme sacrifice for our country. This will include functions organized at block, urban local bodies, state, and national levels with the active participation of educational institutions at all levels including schools.

Schools affiliated with CBSE play a vital role in ensuring the grand success of this initiative. CBSE urges all schools to engage in the given below key areas:
- Ignite Enthusiasm Through Student Involvement
- Develop a sense of participation by actively involving the students in the Meri Mati Mera Desh campaign.
- Organize special meetings for the theme of the campaign and distribute informational leaflets to parents, create awareness, and mobilize support for the cause.
- Encourage the school students to take the Panch Pran Pratigya, a solemn commitment to the values of the nation. Additionally, encourage all school students to take selfies with a handful of soil (“Mitti”) and upload them on a dedicated website, symbolizing their connection to the land and its history.
- Ensure that students are actively involved in the campaign at the grass root level, block, urban local body, and national level.
The details of the comprehensive Meri Mati Mera Desh program mentioned by the Ministry of Culture in its letter dated 23 July 2023 are attached in Annexure-1.
In addition, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS) is spearheading an important aspect of the festival – the tree plantation drive. To commemorate 75 years of independence, schools are encouraged to plant 75 saplings of indigenous trees and set up an “Amrit Vatika” on their premises. In support of this effort, the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change is providing saplings for plantation. The Director General of Forests and Special Secretary have interacted with Principal Chief Conservators of Forests and Heads of Forest Forces of all States/UTs seeking their participation.
